Mindful Making Studio
Join our weekly, friendly craft session to enjoy learning different craft skills, connecting with others and improving everyday health and wellbeing through mindful craft and creativity.
Guided by Embroidery Artist Elnaz Yazdani, this term we will be exploring Creative Embroidery techniques to develop our own designs and artworks in stitch. We will be covering techniques like Crewel Work, Canvas Embroidery & Cross Stitch. Crewel Work is embroidery using yarn, learning how to create a raised and creative approach to stitching. Canvas Embroidery works really well in tapestry wool, covering stitching that is dense and perfect for rug making. Cross stitch is a uniformed grid shape stitch, perfect for geometric designs and patterns. Everything we learn can be transformed into seasonal gifts and creative artworks.
This studio session includes taught elements where you'll learn new skills alongside unstructured time to develop your skills and work creatively on your projects with expert guidance from Elnaz on hand. Please feel free to bring along your own craft project to work on if you want to attend but don't want to take part in the embroidery.
This session is open to beginners and all levels and all materials are provided.
